This is a great range of bricks made in Indonesia that is very reasonably priced, has a high standard of quality and is very popular. If you don’t require a fire resistance rating*, these glass bricks will satisfy most applications without breaking the bank. (*See range below)
Mulia Glass Blocks
PLEASE NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FACTOR IN THE FRAME REQUIRED WHEN DESIGNING YOUR WINDOW SIZE, THERE ARE FOUR TYPES OF INSTALLATION THAT REQUIRE FOUR DIFFERENT SIZES: SILICONE SYSTEM, MORTAR SYSTEM, MORTAR DIY SYSTEM, AND FIRE RATED SYSTEM. WE URGE YOU TO CONTACT US OR AT LEAST CONSULT THE GLASS BLOCK FRAMES PAGE FOR INFO.
Fire Resistance Ratings
*Fire resistance rating. In Australia, we have a minimum fire resistance level (60 minutes) to meet fire codes in particular building applications (eg. boundary walls and fire escape stairwells) . Most glass bricks will resist fire for a good period of time.
The difference between some bricks and others may be very slight eg: 59 minutes is almost the same as 62 minutes but the former will not pass the minimum requirement and the latter will. The difference can be literally that small. There may also be no formal testing done of some brands in Australia.
Mortar and Silicone Installations
This range of glass bricks is perfectly suited to both mortar and silicone installations, our other ranges are generally used for fire rated installations as they are slightly more expensive, or if you particularly like a style (pattern) of brick that is only available in those ranges.
Curved Walls
This is the perfect style of brick to use for curved walls, lots of patterns to choose from, very cost effective block to use especially in larger panels.
Quadra Glass Blocks
The lines run horizontally on one side of the glass block and vertically on the other giving a cross-line look.
European Vs Asian
Glass Bricks
Up until about ten years ago, we used to encourage people to lean towards the glass bricks made in Europe over the Asian made equivalent. This was due to quite a clear difference in quality. There was a lot of second-hand equipment being sold off to Asian companies by European companies as they upgraded their production facilities. This is no longer an issue, the Asian made glass bricks are every bit as good in quality as the European bricks with one bonus, the price! There is great value with a lower price tag with Asian glass bricks and that is why we highly recommend them!
Freestanding Glass Brick Screen Walls
Not totally freestanding but fixed one side and of course, the bottom.
There are purpose made blocks with this range that will allow you to build an exposed end and top of your wall without a frame (See End Blocks and Double End Blocks).
Corner Panels
Mulia has specialty blocks designed to allow the panel to continue around a 90 degree corner without a corner post in the framing system.
