Since the horrendous bushfires that began Black Saturday in January 2009 there has been a big shake up in the building industry especially in the more wooded areas of Australia. The new industry standards call for greater protection for windows potentially exposed to fire and ember attacks. The good news in all this is that glass blocks meet this requirement very well if laid in the correct manner for fire rating. We have a good range of glass bricks that meet the standard 60 and 90 minute fire rating required in the building industry but the Bushfire Attack Level ratings introduces a new category of 30 minute fire rating into which all of our glass block fit. Great news to broaden the range of glass block patterns able to fulfil the requirement of fire resistance and personal safety.
